Increasing firewater capacity

The purpose of this project was to define a methodology that can help the utility companies decide how can they improve their water distribution network if the firewater or drinking water capacity needs to be increased.

Based on only one hydraulic calculation, that includs sensitivity analysis, the method can offer multiple suggestions where to install a new pipeline into the system. A case study was performed using a real-life water distribution system of a small town and it revealed that even one new pipeline can increase the firewater capacity with 20% in average if the that pipeline is chosen optimally.
