Introduction to mechanical engineering

BMEGEVGBG10

Briefly about the subject

The aim of the course is to introduce students to the basic physical and mechanical measurements, the concepts and methods necessary for examining machines and processes, and the method of discussing engineering processes. Another objective is to describe the smooth operation of machines, work, efficiency and different drives (friction, belt, gear, pulley), load factor, and losses.

The course also aims to present the basics of fluid flow processes, the Bernoulli equation, the Venturi tube, the basics of caloric processes, the concepts of calorific value, specific consumption, enthalpy, the thermal power plant cycle, variable speed operation of machines, the sliding and crank gears, the piston pump, the basics of internal combustion engines, the indicator diagram, and the concepts of the characteristic curve and the operating point.
