On 17 October 2025, our department celebrated the 125th anniversary of its foundation. After a welcome speech by the Rector Charaf Hassan, György Paál, Head of the Department, gave a presentation on the history of the Department. This was followed by professional presentations and speeches by the industrial partners who supported the event. The professional community of almost 100 participants worshipped the bust of Donát Bánki, the founder of the Department, at the bottom of Building K. Gábor Halász, László Kullmann and György Paál, the three living Heads of the Department, former and current, placed the wreath on the statue’s pedestal. The event ended with a reception and a tour of the department’s laboratory.

We are proud that the spirit of the iconic inventor Donát Bánki, the legendary professor Géza Pattantyús-Ábrahám and the industrially experienced József Varga still pervades our department! We were delighted to see so many enthusiastic, happy and bright faces at the ceremony!
